Tanjiro’s Earrings

I have made something cool this time!
Any anime lovers out there? Do you know Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba?
It is a fictional anime that portrays characters that are demon slayers. It’s main character, Tanjiro, is a demon slayer who has a sister who is a demon. Her name is Nezuko and you can easily tell its her when you see bamboo on her mouth
Nezuko was the only family he has that’s why he protects her and together they travel to a journey in hopes to find a solution to make her not a demon anymore
She was carried by Tanjiro in a box that was formed to look like a backpack.
It is a good anime and I recommend it!
Now, to what I have created..
Tanjiro wears an exceptional pair of earrings it is quite unique and cool. Since I make earrings, I wondered if I could make one just like that, using yarn.
It looks like a rectangle card, that has what looks like white butterfly wings patterns.
I used the following materials

It’s quite a lot but it was actually fun to make. Of course, like any other creation, it has its own challenges.
The first one is the variety of yarn is not the same. the scale for one type of yarn is not the same on the other. Which makes it hard to make the piece look balanced.
The hardest part is also the details of the earrings. I had to manually add them and I’m not so good at making symmetrical patterns. I can’t even draw a straight line even if you give me a ruler!
That’s just how bad I am.
Furthermore, I has four colors. Which means, I’ll have to cut and tie off yarn more than four times and I have to hide the trailing yarns all over.
It has to look like the same because it is a replication project and there will be no room to hide the mistakes.
Luckily, I managed to overcome these challenges and made this!
It’s cool and cute right? What do you think?
Initially, I thought this will be just something I would display and post, but when I tried it for myself I thought, ‘hey, I could pull off wearing earrings like this’
I’m still thinking if I should sell earrings like this. If so, would you purchase one?

Cool! My kids love anime but I’ve only seen a few Studio Ghibli films, Death note and Avatar so I’m not familiar with this one. Looks good to me though 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us at Handmade Monday
