Happy World Braille Day!

Today is World Braille Day!

I want to make a content that will help spread awareness and help you all understand what Braille is and what it’s for!

Braille is a system of reading and writing with the use of raised dots. It is mainly used to aid blind or visually impaired people.

Each alphabet is comprised of 6 dots. Either it is raised or not. They read it and feel it. In some countries, Braille is required to be in packaging of goods so it can aid those that are visually impaired

There are also artworks that feature Braille. And of course, as a crochet blog, I wanted to create one for this special day!

Here is what I have created! Braille writing using crochet!

Each letter looks like this:

The one above represents the letter O. As you can see, I used the popcorn stitch to signify a ‘raised dot’ in the letter.

It might be hard to see but this one reads out my crocheted world.

It was a bit hard to take a photo because the blue ones are so dark in color and the cream colored ones are so light in color.

But I tried taking a few more photos

This time You can see more details in the cream colored alphabets. This one spells ‘crochet’

I used 3.5mm crochet hooks on each of these.

And this one is a close up view of one of the Braille alphabets.

I used royal blue yarn and cream colored indophil yarns for this projects.I first sketched them and the pattern or ‘guide I was going to use

At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to complete this projet on time for the World Braille Day. But I was able to.

I wasn’t able to take real good photos of the braille characters I made, but I hope I was able to raise awareness in my own way.

The gift of sight is something that we all usually take for granted. It is nice to remember that not everyone has that gift.

That’s all for today. Thanks for reading

Happy World Braille Day!
