DIY Clay Hooks
Hi everyone!!!!
Sorry if it took me quite a while to make a new content!
The projects I had been working on took a bit of time to finish so I was actually cramming!
This time, I had made something special!!!
I made my own Clay Crochet Hooks!!!!
I bought the air dry clay from Hulma MNL, it might not be available worldwide but I will add an Amazon link at the end to a similar product!
My hands has always hurt when I am crocheting for long periods of time. These metal hooks usually has metal carvings on where you are supposed to hold them.
I read somewhere that clay crochet hooks are the solution to that problem.
Another problem that I had was that I can break metal hooks. Yep, I don’t know how it came to be, but I already broke two crochet hooks.
I think adding a clay holder for the hooks can somehow prevent it from breaking.
I did my research and I saw that most DIY Clay hooks are made of Polymer Clay. It is the one that needs an oven I didn’t have an oven for that purpose so I opted for Air Dry Clay
The online store I brought it from was also very helpful. I asked him or her if it would be all right to use for crochet hooks, and they said I could so I placed the order.
So I bought two variants of clay, one in skin color and one is translucent color. it is 25g each.
At first, I thought that I would only be doing 1 or 2 hooks with 50g. I was able to do 5 of it!

I also thought the translucent was just a faded white. After it dried, it really became translucent.
Here’s a closer look to each crochet hook I made
1.00mm 3.00mm 3.50mm 4.00mm 4.50mm
The first I did was the 1.00mm hook. I made a marble type of effect with both the colors.

The next one is the 3.00mm hook Where I made some sort of a sword looking design

Next, the 3.50mm hook, I used the same marble type of design, then I made a bow tie design at the tip

Next one, is the 4.00mm hook, which looks like a really yummy marshmallow

And lastly, the 4.5mm hook that has alternating translucent and skin colors

As you can see the translucent really shows off. My favorite one is the first hook, the 1.00mm. The marble effect really made it through.
These pictures were taken before I applied some clear nail polish so It was not yet thoroughly done.
But I think it still is very cute!

As always, love lots!
