Free Telescope Viewing: a crocheted diorama

Most astronomers (if not all) miss going out to do events we all enjoy; free telescope viewing.

We miss bringing our telescopes closer to the public and sharing our passion and hobbies.

We miss the smiles among the faces of the children when they see the moon, or the planets, or different astronomical objects using telescopes.

This week is the National Astronomy Week and we miss it so much more.

For all those missed moments, I had made this crocheted diorama.

Free Telescope Viewing: a crocheted diorama

Materials: Indophil yarn, Mercerized yarn, Tapestry needle, Thread scissors, 1.00mm Crochet hook, Hairpin, Cardboard, Scissors, Pen

As you can see, I made this with a variety of yarn. I ended up using just one hook, which is the 1.00mm, instead of the original plan of using 3.00 and 3.50mm.

I also used the crocheted Dobsonian Telescope, a couple weeks back in this project.

I wanted to put out an FTV scene that are familiar to all of us, even a simple one.

One telescope, one people that manipulates the telescope, several people lining up to have a glimpse, and one people that invites people to look.

We all know FTV is not complete without the ‘taga-tawag’. Have you ever experienced being one?

I managed to do 4 mini people amigurumis. They are so cute and so small. I didn’t put faces and hair because I was afraid I might ruin it.

They all wear pants and shoes and different colored tops.

Then, I positioned them to make a Free Telescope Viewing scene.

Here are some photos

I edited the photos using Canva and here is the final product:

Isn’t this cute? I hope this put a smile to your faces, especially to everyone who misses going out to conduct FTV!

Thank you for reading!

As always, Love lots!
